Overview

Alpha Helix Corporate Finance provided strategic advice to the directors of MUJO (www.mujofitness.com/), a technology-based service offering 'smart' devices, electronic patient records and cloud analytics for a data-driven approach to musculoskeletal care.

Alpha Helix Corporate Finance built an integrated financial model and providing forecast strategic guidance.

Founding director Douglas Higgins said: ‘It has been great working Louise and her team to draw on their deep experience of the healthcare market to refine our commercial strategy backed up by rigorous financial forecasts. Since engaging with Nexus we have already entered into discussions with potential strategic corporate investors and go-to-market partners. We’re looking forward to seeing what 2017 has to hold.’

The business

MUJO (www.mujofitness.com) is dedicated to improving the delivery of musculoskeletal care, which is the third largest cost base for the UK’s National Health Service after cardiac and mental health care.

MUJO devices are suitable for rehabilitation of patients with a wide range of orthopaedic, occupational health and neurological conditions, including sports injuries, spinal cord injuries, hip, knee, or shoulder replacements, or stroke, cerebral palsy and Parkinson’s Disease.

2016 was a successful year for MUJO, as they continue to develop and grow their business, with the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore is implementing a MUJO staff pilot as part of on-going employee wellbeing initiatives, following a 9-month patient study which demonstrated improved engagement and reduced burden on clinical staff (see more here), as well as becoming an intrinsic part of Circle Bedford’s MSK care pathway.

2017 will see further development for MUJO as they look to fundraise in H1 2017 which will be used to accelerate business growth, launch community based centres and expand the number of healthcare, rehabilitation, occupational health and insurance businesses they work with.
